EcoWorld launches blood donation campaign in support of Pusat Darah Negara

SEMENYIH: Property developer Eco World Development Group Berhad (EcoWorld) today launched the EcoWorld Blood Donation Campaign at its EcoWorld Gallery @ Eco Majestic in Semenyih. This campaign is the start of a year-long partnership with Pusat Darah Negara in support to its call for Malaysians to come forward willingly to donate blood.

Launching the campaign was Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, Director of EcoWorld and Chairman of Eco World Foundation. In his welcome speech, Lee said the campaign isn’t only a blood donation drive but it also seeks to create public awareness about regular blood donation and how it helps save lives.

“Many would also be surprised to know that donating blood regularly can actually help reduce blood pressure, blood glucose and risk of heart attacks. Furthermore, it is a noble action to be able to volunteer as a regular blood donor,” Lee added.

Today’s event was attended by YBhg Dr Noryati Abu Amin, Pengarah Pusat Darah Negara along with senior management and staff of EcoWorld.

Lee shared that the campaign is an EcoWorld corporate social responsibility initiative and it continues in EcoWorld Galleries throughout Klang Valley, Iskandar Malaysia and Penang ” locations where the developer has active projects.

Explaining how the campaign idea first came about, Lee said he was empowered to come forward and offer assistance to Pusat Darah Negara after hearing about their predicament of getting the public to donate blood.

“I am pleased to say that I received full support from EcoWorld’s CEO Dato’ Chang Khim Wah to go ahead and make this a Group CSR project.

“Promoting CSR in EcoWorld is nothing new. Under the Eco World Foundation, we have our Volunteers Club comprising of over 350 EcoWorld employees who never fail to answer the call of the needy,” said Lee.

This year, the Eco World Foundation Volunteers Club along with other staff embarked on seven missions to help with relief efforts in Manek Urai, Kelantan after the devastating floods that hit the nation end of 2014.

“Lee said he was extremely proud to be part of such a strong team that readily stands up to volunteer for all deserving causes.

Lee also thanked Pusat Darah Negara for the opportunity to work together in Team EcoWorld’s full support and commitment here,” he said.
