SEMENYIH: The Eco World Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to education by donating 20 sets of stainless-steel canteen tables and benches to SJKC Ton Fah, providing students with a more comfortable and conducive space for their daily activities.
In December last year, the Foundation received an urgent request from the school’s headmaster regarding the need for additional canteen furniture to accommodate the increasing student population. Since its establishment, SJKC Ton Fah has seen a steady rise in enrolment—from 200 students in 2023 to nearly 500 today. However, the existing canteen facilities could only accommodate 300 students, making additional tables and benches a necessity.
The official handover ceremony was attended by Eco World Foundation Chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, and SJKC Ton Fah Headmaster, Mr. Chai Wai Hong. The donated furniture, valued at RM1,800 per set, was delivered to the school in February 2025, ensuring students could use them from the start of the new academic term.
“Eco World Foundation places great emphasis on education assistance because we believe that education has the power to change lives and uplift entire families. Schools must not lack fundamental facilities, as a conducive learning environment is essential for students to thrive,” said Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
The Foundation’s broader efforts to support education for the needy include the Students Aid Programme, which sponsors 1,800 primary school students from different ethnic backgrounds across four states in Malaysia. This program alone costs the Foundation over RM3 million annually.
“We are delighted to contribute these high-quality, durable, and aesthetically pleasing canteen tables and benches to SJKC Ton Fah. I sincerely hope students will cherish these facilities and take good care of them, ensuring that future generations can also benefit,” added Tan Sri Lee.
Tan Sri Lee also urged individuals and organisations to contribute to the development of schools, helping to improve both their software and hardware resources.
In his closing remarks, Tan Sri Lee encouraged students to study diligently and strive for excellence, saying, “One day, I hope you will grow into individuals who contribute to the nation and society, living up to the expectations placed upon you.”
