ECO WORLD FOUNDATION ENHANCES SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT WITH NEW COVERED WALKWAY AND FRESHLY PAINTED SCHOOL BLOCK

KLANG: The Eco World Foundation officially handed over a new covered walkway to SK Sungai Binjai today in a simple ceremony attended by the Foundation’s Chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and its Board of Trustees members. Also present were EcoWorld Malaysia President and CEO, Dato’ Chang Khim Wah and Deputy CEO, Mr Liew Tian Xiong.

The provision of this 52m walkway, referred to as Laluan Teduhan Kasih EcoWorld, is part of the Foundation’s Students Aid Programme (SAP) Special Projects. Under this initiative, the Foundation provided aid to four schools last year and will be continuing with another six schools this year.
SK Sungai Binjai is the first beneficiary this year with a total of RM70,000 spent on the school. This includes the construction of the 52m covered walkway, addition of some waiting areas including benches, painting of 15 classrooms and upgrading works on existing facilities.

“Education has always been a primary focus of the Foundation and the SAP has been an enabler since the Foundation was first established in 2014. Each year, the Foundation supports 2,000 students in 117 schools through the SAP, and SK Sungai Binjai is one of the schools with 26 pupils under the programme,” Tan Sri Lee shared.

Located at Jalan Meru Tambahan, SK Sungai Binjai has a student population of 3,300 with both morning and afternoon sessions. With such a high student population, the school’s current entry/exit gates were getting too congested. According to Tan Sri Lee, there are four entry/exit gates. However, Gate C did not have a covered walkway, forcing students to walk on the grass.

To address this issue, a new covered walkway was constructed, providing students with a more convenient and practical route. Additionally, several other enhancements were made, including the installation of waiting areas with benches and a raised walkway to avoid flooding. These improvements have significantly benefited the students, making it safer and more comfortable for them.

Tan Sri Lee also took the opportunity to thank the 25 Team EcoWorld volunteers from Eco Grandeur who came together to paint two blocks of classrooms (15 classrooms) to help enliven the learning environment for the students. This is the second time that Team EcoWorld has come together for such a CSR activity. In 2016, Team EcoWorld volunteers had painted 35 classrooms for the school.

“We hope Laluan Teduhan Kasih EcoWorld and the other improvements done for SK Sungai Binjai will benefit both students and teachers, as well as further enhance the learning environment here. And I would like to emphasise the importance of looking after the facilities well for the benefit of many students to come,” added Tan Sri Lee.
