AMPANG: Eco World Foundation today handed over two new haemodialysis machines to the Ampang Kau Ong Yah Foundation Dialysis Centre, ensuring better treatment facilities for underprivileged kidney patients in the community.
The donation, valued at RM86,000 (RM43,000 each), will replace two of the centre’s ageing machines, part of a fleet of 22 units. Currently, eight of these machines are more than six years old and increasingly difficult to maintain.
Founded in October 2003, the Ampang Kau Ong Yah Haemodialysis Centre is recognised as one of the pioneer and larger non-profit dialysis centres in Selangor. Since its establishment, the centre has been committed to providing subsidised haemodialysis treatment to needy Malaysians with kidney failure who would otherwise struggle to afford the high cost of care. Today, it serves 73 patients and operates two shifts daily, six days a week.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, Chairman of the Eco World Foundation, said: “Healthcare is a basic need that no one should be deprived of. By contributing these machines, the Eco World Foundation hopes to ease the burden on the centre and, most importantly, improve the quality of care for patients who depend on dialysis for their survival. This initiative reflects our belief that corporate responsibility extends beyond education and community support, to encompass healthcare and overall well-being.”
This latest contribution follows another recent initiative by the Foundation. In Rawang, EWF donated a haemodialysis machine valued at RM52,000 to the St John Ambulance Malaysia-Kawasan Pantai Selangor Foundation (SJAM-KPS). The machine was installed at the SJAM-KPS Rawang Dialysis Centre, replacing an old unit to ensure patients continue receiving safe and effective life-saving treatment.
These donations underscore the Foundation’s commitment to supporting healthcare facilities that provide critical services to underprivileged communities.
The handover ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ampang Kau Ong Yah Foundation and community leaders. Following a tour of the centre, a press conference was held to highlight the importance of collaborative efforts in supporting healthcare for underprivileged groups.
This initiative forms part of the EcoWorld Cares programme, which focuses on uplifting communities through education, welfare and healthcare support. By providing essential equipment to healthcare facilities, the Foundation seeks to ensure that the less fortunate have access to reliable, quality medical care.
