ECO WORLD FOUNDATION BUILDS OPEN CLASSROOM FOR SJKC CHUNG WAH

KUALA SELANGOR: Education is an important aspect in the development of a student and the learning approach also needs to be adapted according to needs.

In view of this, the Eco World Foundation recently came to the aid of SJKC Chung Wah, constructing an open classroom for the students.

Aptly named “Eco Zone”, the open classroom was officially handed over to the school today in a ceremony attended by EcoWorld Divisional General Manager Ho Kwee Hong, EcoWorld General Manager, Tiong Siow Yin, Headmistress of SJKC Chung Wah, Tan Chil Ean, Chairman of School Board of Governors, Koo Kon Seng, Chairman of Parents and Teachers Association, Pua Poh Ann and Chairman of School Alumni, Tan Chee Hooi.

SJKC Chung Wah is the second school to receive a contribution from the Foundation under its Students Aid Programme (SAP) Special Projects. The programme assisted three schools last year with a total donation of RM90,000. This year, the Foundation has committed to helping six more schools.
The first school to receive aid through the programme this year is SK Sungai Binjai, with the construction of a covered walkway and painting of school blocks amounting to RM70,000. This time around, the Foundation spent RM40,000 on SJKC Chung Wah, building an open classroom.

This is the second time the Foundation has provided assistance to SJKC Chung Wah. In 2017, the Foundation provided 100 sets of chairs and tables for students to use. In addition, a total of 15 students under SAP assistance also benefited from this program.

“The idea for an open classroom at SJKC Chung Wah, inspired by Team EcoWorld from Eco Grandeur, embodies our commitment to sustainability. This initiative, supported by the Eco World Foundation, signifies our joint effort towards lifelong learning and environmental stewardship.

“Creating an Eco Zone outside the traditional classroom is a pioneering step towards sustainable education. This space integrates natural light, ventilation, vegetation, rainwater harvesting, and recycled materials, fostering a deeper connection with nature and enhancing the learning experience,” Tan Sri Lee said.

Since the Foundation’s inception, it has spent RM1.2 million in providing basic facilities in schools. However, the focus of the Foundation is with the SAP, which supports basic educational needs for underprivileged students in primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Currently, there are 2,000 students under its care.

This further emphasises EcoWorld’s CSR objectives which falls under the EcoWorld Cares umbrella – co-creating sustainable opportunities that includes education, empowerment, economic stability, financial independence and work security.

Tan Sri Lee also took the opportunity to thank Team EcoWorld volunteers from Eco Grandeur who also came together to paint, decorate and garden in the open space.

He added: “We envision our students and teachers thriving in this innovative space, where learning beyond walls cultivates a profound appreciation for nature and enriches educational outcomes. At SJKC Chung Wah and EcoWorld, we are united in our mission to safeguard the environment and champion sustainability. This initiative is an investment in our children’s future, ensuring a brighter tomorrow through responsible practices today.”
