ECO WORLD FOUNDATION BUILDS BOOK KIOSK FOR SK BANDAR RINCHING, SEMENYIH

SEMENYIH: The Eco World Foundation officially handed over a book kiosk to SK Bandar Rinching today. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of Eco World Foundation, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye; President and Chief Executive Officer of Eco World Development Group Berhad (EcoWorld), Dato’ Chang Khim Wah; Divisional General Manager of EcoWorld , Evon Yap and SK Bandar Rinching Headmaster, Azril Sham bin Mohamed.

Located in Semenyih, SK Bandar Rinching is home to a student population of 2,700 pupils. This impressive number underscores the Eco World Foundation’s commitment to supporting education through the construction of a dedicated book kiosk – an initiative designed to spark a love for reading among students and the wider school community.

This project, fully funded by Eco Majestic with a generous contribution of RM75,000, began in February 2025 and was successfully completed by mid-March 2025.

Although the kiosk is not yet open to the public, it will soon be officially launched, offering students, teachers, parents, and the entire school community convenient access to a diverse collection of reading materials. To ensure that everyone has a chance to enjoy the facility, the book kiosk will operate twice a month, during the 2nd and 4th weeks, creating regular opportunities for meaningful engagement with books.

This initiative builds on the Foundation’s past support for SK Bandar Rinching. In December 2023, the Foundation donated 150 sets of desks and chairs worth RM25,000 to enhance the school’s learning environment. Additionally, through its Students Aid Programme (SAP), the Foundation currently supports 27 underprivileged students at the school.

On a broader note, the SAP supports approximately 2,000 students annually across 117 schools nationwide. The programme is designed to provide essential educational support—including school supplies, uniforms, and financial assistance—to help students realise their full potential. To date, 106 students under the SAP have continued their journey into tertiary education, thanks to support from the programme.

Commenting on the handover ceremony, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said: “The book kiosk at SK Bandar Rinching was developed with a clear purpose—to cultivate a stronger reading culture among students and the wider school community. We wanted to make books easily accessible and ensure that reading becomes an engaging and enjoyable part of everyday life. Even before its official launch, the enthusiasm shown by both teachers and students has been truly encouraging. We believe this kiosk will grow into a vibrant hub of learning, curiosity, and inspiration.”

He added: “At Eco World Foundation, we believe education is the cornerstone of a better future, and every child should have access to the tools that help them thrive. Reading is one of the most powerful ways to unlock knowledge, creativity, and opportunity. This kiosk represents more than just a CSR project—it reflects our deep and ongoing commitment to educational empowerment. My heartfelt thanks to the Eco Majestic team for their strong support in bringing this meaningful initiative to life.”
