PUNCAK ALAM: Eco Grandeur, developed by Paragon Pinnacle Sdn Bhd, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor on 15 August 2026 to strengthen their long-standing partnership, alongside the official launch of the UiTM-Eco Grandeur Urban Community Living Lab (UCLL) at the township’s Sales Gallery.
The LOI was signed by Yang Berusaha Profesor Dr Ahmad Taufek Abdul Rahman, Rektor of UiTM Cawangan Selangor, and Dato’ Ho Kwee Hong, Chief Development Officer, EcoWorld (Eco Central – North). This was followed by the ribbon-cutting and plaque signing to officiate UCLL, with the plaque signed by Yang Berusaha Profesor Dr Hj Sazili Shahibi, Timbalan Naib Canselor (Hal Ehwal Pelajar), and Dato’ Ho.
For Eco Grandeur, the collaboration marks the latest step in a community-building journey that has spanned more than a decade of township development. What began as the revival of a previously abandoned project has grown into a complete community with infrastructure, amenities and, increasingly, partnerships that extend well beyond property development.
“Township development is not only about delivering properties, but also about building a sustainable community ecosystem,” said Dato’ Ho. “This collaboration with UiTM is a natural extension of that philosophy, and comes after several years of engagement between both parties. Through UCLL, we hope to bring the university’s knowledge, programmes and expertise closer to our residents and the wider community, and to serve as a bridge between the university and real community needs.”
The partnership between Eco Grandeur and UiTM is not new. Since 2018, the two have worked together on a series of community initiatives, including an influencer engagement event with UiTM students, the Neuro Wonder Kids Festival for special needs children, World Pharmacy Day public health awareness activities, and an art exhibition featuring UiTM art students. Eco Grandeur has also supported UiTM more directly — lending buggies to ferry vaccination recipients during the Covid-19 pandemic, sponsoring gifts for UiTM’s International Nurses Day and World Pharmacy Day events, and distributing bubur lambuk weekly at UiTM Hospital throughout Ramadhan for the past three years.
UCLL builds on this foundation with a dedicated, long-term presence. Eco Grandeur is providing a 970-square-foot space at Grandeur Lab — complete with furniture, fixtures and internet connectivity — for three years, and will absorb the facility’s operational expenses. The space will host programmes in community literacy, health screening and education, nutrition education, youth entrepreneurship and student volunteerism, developed jointly by UiTM, industry, the community and government under a quadruple helix approach led by iCARE UiTM Selangor. 2
The initiative has also been recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) as one of its Industry on Campus (IoC) programmes, underscoring its strategic value in connecting higher education with industry and community wellbeing.
Professor Dr Hj Sazili Shahibi said UCLL is intended to be more than a physical facility. “It should serve as a platform connecting the university, industry and community through knowledge transfer, education, innovation, entrepreneurship and community programmes,” he said, encouraging UiTM Selangor’s faculties to actively make use of the space. He added that the collaboration with Eco Grandeur is expected to lead to more impactful programmes and broader strategic cooperation in the future.
For Eco Grandeur, UCLL reinforces its positioning as a township built on more than infrastructure — one that brings university expertise closer to residents and supports education, health and community development as part of its broader commitment to sustainable, people-centred township living.
UCLL also reflects sustainability as a foundational value across the EcoWorld Group, with community development standing as one of its ongoing priorities. This partnership with UiTM extends that commitment into Eco Grandeur, turning it into a tangible, on-the-ground programme for the Puncak Alam community.
