EcoWorld Gives Back To The Community

KLANG: The community near Klinik Kesihatan Meru will now be able to enjoy a refurbished nursing room at the centre thanks to the help of staff from Eco World Development Group Berhad (EcoWorld Malaysia).

The refurbishment is part of an initiative by participants from the Group’s leadership programme – the EcoWorld Leadership Development Program (EWLDP). Called the Feed for Health, Feed for Love campaign, the objective of the campaign is to raise awareness for breastfeeding and provide a sustainable and supportive environment for both mother and child during nursing.

A total of 20 staff rolled up their sleeves and chipped in to clean up, repaint and reorganise the nursing room over the span of two weeks. Educational posters were also designed and placed around the nursing room as well as the centre for further awareness and engagement.

The newly added items in the nursing room consist of a baby cot, sofa, baby changing mat as well as curtains. Other necessities that were contributed by EcoWorld staff through the donation drive were a baby walker, nursing pads, clothes and blankets diapers, shampoo, body wash, baby powder and wet tissues which were handed over to the personnel at the centre last Friday. This effort was also made possible with the contributions from EcoWorld’s business associates.

EcoWorld Malaysia’s President & CEO Dato’ Chang Khim Wah said “Our vision of ‘Creating Tomorrow and Beyond’ is not limited to crafting beautiful and sustainable developments for future generations only. It encompasses our commitment to give back to society by being a responsible corporate citizen as well. We take it further by creating a positive difference in our communities – be it within the company, the environment or for the disadvantaged Malaysians who need a helping hand.”

The EWLDP is a series of programs that aims to strengthen leadership skills through activities such as group workshops, peer learning sessions, guided academic readings and action learning projects.

Chang said the Feed for Health, Feed for Love campaign was just one of many ideas that staff under the EWLDP have come up with. “We group staff from different backgrounds, different projects and different expertise into a team and encourage them to contribute towards the company’s CSR efforts. There have been many other noteworthy initiatives started by staff under the EWLDP and we are very proud to see the team embracing our values wholeheartedly,” added Chang.

Since its inception in 2015, this initiative has trained over 150 high-potential employees and position them to lead others. The EWLDP program is one initiative that reflects the Group’s commitment in engaging and empowering staff.
