Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy


Objective

This Policy describes the approach and commitment of Eco World Development Group Berhad (“Company”) and its group of companies (collectively “Group”) to equality, diversity and inclusion in relation to its Board of Directors (“Board”) and employees.

Scope

This Policy applies to all employees and Board of the Group.

Definition

  1. Equality means impartiality and fairness within the procedures, processes, programme and all aspects of employment including recruitment, rewarding, training, conduct at work and disciplinary procedures.
  2. Diversity refers to all the attributes or characteristics that make individuals different from each other which includes, but not limited to age, gender, skills, experience, education, background, expertise, origin, disability, race, nationality, culture, language and perspective.
  3. Inclusion means a culture of mutual respect and value each other’s differences and ensures that each individual has a full sense of belonging in the Group.

Policy Statement

The Group is committed in creating equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to the culture and core values of the Group and are aligned with the Group’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals approved by United Nations.

  1. The Group promotes a healthy and productive working environment where everyone has equal opportunity to develop skills and talents by continuously pushing the boundaries, disrupting the status quo and always rethinking and seeking better ways to create value for all.
  2. The Group fosters a culture that respects and values each other’s differences and encourages diverse ideas, perspective and expertise which can contribute towards creating jobs, homes and communities that are truly sustainable and have a long-lasting positive impact in achieving the Company’s vision of Creating Tomorrow & Beyond.
  3. The Group creates a work environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and is free from bullying, discrimination, harassment and victimisation. The Group will not tolerate bullying, discrimination or harassment of any kind and will not tolerate victimisation of a person for making allegations of bullying, discrimination, or harassment in good faith.
  4. The Group creates a work environment that is premised on equality, diversity and inclusion which encourages and enforces:

    1. Respectful communication and co-operation between all employees and stakeholders;
    2. Teamwork, participation and perspectives from the Board and all employees;
    3. Fairness and equal access to opportunities and resources within the organization; and
    4. Contributions from the Board and employees to the communities that the Group serves to promote a greater understanding and respect for equality, diversity and inclusion.

This Policy will be reviewed by the Nomination Committee of the Company (“NC”) periodically to reflect changes in the law, demographics and internal business requirements. Any revisions to the Policy as recommended by the NC will be submitted to the Board of the Company for consideration and approval.
